This policy explains what personal data KAFART (an initiative of Gazelle Creative Foundation) collects through kafartng.org, why, and how we handle it under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
What we collect
Newsletter: first name and email address, when you subscribe in the footer. Contact form: name, email, subject, and your message, when you write to us. Open Call: name, contact details, and application materials (portfolio, biography, statement of intent), when applications are open. We don't collect payment information — the site has no checkout.
How we use it
To send the festival updates you signed up for, respond to enquiries, and review Open Call applications. We don't sell your data, and we only use it for the purpose you gave it to us for.
Legal basis and your consent
We rely on your consent for the newsletter (given when you subscribe, withdrawable at any time) and on our legitimate interest in responding to messages you send us through the contact form or an Open Call application.
Who else sees it
We use third-party services to run parts of this site: a form provider to deliver contact-form messages, an email provider to send the newsletter, Elfsight to embed our Instagram feed, and Google Maps to show the venue location. Each may set cookies or process limited data under their own privacy policies when you interact with their embedded features.
How long we keep it
Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact-form messages and Open Call applications are kept for as long as reasonably needed to respond and to run the relevant edition of the festival, then deleted.
Your rights
Under the NDPA, you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and withdraw consent (for the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us). To exercise any of these, contact us at hello@kafartng.org.
Children's data
This site and our forms are intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from children, though the festival itself is family-friendly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
